Lemala Mara Tented Camp

This mobile camp is one of my top choices, providing exceptional value when compared to others in the market.

SUMMARY:

Lemala Mara Tented Camp is an excellent choice that justifies the upgrade if you’re looking to indulge a bit. This camp is recognized as one of the Serengeti’s premier mobile accommodations, operating seasonally with relocations occurring biannually. The location is Lemala Mara Tented Camp, situated in the northern Serengeti. It is situated here from June to October, after which it will close for two weeks before reopening at Lemala Ndutu in the south. This mobile camp boasts a fantastic location, provides outstanding guiding at a reasonable price, and is perfectly suited for observing the Great Migration.

Lemala is a company that manages genuine camps and lodges across northern Tanzania, including locations in Arusha, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Tarangire National Park, and the Serengeti. Your stay includes all meals, a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and access to all activities, unless stated otherwise.

Given the untamed environment of this open camp, it is essential for parents to closely supervise their children at all times.

ACCESSIBILITY & LOCATION:

The camp can be reached with a 20-minute road transfer from Kogatende Airstrip.

LODGING & AMENITIES AT LEMALA MARA TENTED CAMP:

The guest lodging features twelve tents, strategically placed on both sides of the shared lounge and dining tents. The guest tents feature a Meru style design, with an outer canvas layer that extends over the inner layer, providing a shaded veranda for relaxation. The veranda features comfortable seating and a quaint table, creating an ideal setting for unwinding and taking in the beautiful views! Each tent features two queen-size beds, with ample space available for an additional bed if needed. Additional furnishings feature bedside tables and lighting, a writing desk accompanied by a chair, a comfortable easy chair, a classic explorer’s chest, a wardrobe, and a luggage rack. The en-suite amenities are conveniently located behind a canvas partition on one side of the tent, featuring a separate flush toilet, a washbasin integrated into a vanity unit, and a step-up bucket shower. The color scheme in every tent showcases inviting shades of orange set against a backdrop of soft neutrals and earthy browns.

Lemala Mara features two shared tents – a lounge tent and a dining tent, set up approximately in the middle of the site. The lounge offers an unexpected level of luxury for a mobile camp, featuring leather sofas, glass-topped coffee tables, plush rugs, and elegant chandeliers! The lounge tent features the camp’s bar, and like the guest tents, it boasts a charming veranda where you can sip on a drink or two while taking in the beautiful surroundings. The dining tent features a lengthy table surrounded by campaign chairs, typically serving as the venue for shared meals, though guests have the option to dine outdoors as well. The camp’s fire-pit, conveniently situated a brief walk from the lounge and dining tents, serves as the perfect spot for enjoying pre-dinner drinks and canapés. It’s also wonderful for engaging with your fellow adventurers, sharing tales about your experiences on safari!

EXPERIENCES AT LEMALA MARA TENTED CAMP:

Lemala Mara Tented Camp is dedicated to providing exceptional experiences for observing the Great Migration.

Enjoy expertly guided game drives that occur in the early morning and late afternoon. Alternatively, you can choose to spend the entire day out with a delightful picnic.
The Great Wildebeest Migration is sure to be the pinnacle of your safari experience, as you witness the massive herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelles making their dramatic crossing of the powerful Mara River! This is an extraordinary spectacle, showcasing not just the impressive number of plains game, but also the thrilling risk they encounter from the crocodiles lurking in the swift river. The existence of large felines poses a notable danger to the migration of wildebeest and zebra.
When it comes to wildlife spotting, you can look forward to encountering a variety of species, including hyenas, jackals, elephants, buffalo, giraffes, an impressive range of antelopes, and countless birds.
For the little ones, we offer the Lemala Cubs programme, designed for children aged 11 and under. Activities available encompass animal tracking, spear throwing, and crafting bows and arrows. This property is not enclosed and is situated in a wildlife area, meaning that large and potentially hazardous animals may roam through the vicinity. If you choose to stay here, please remain vigilant while moving around the camp and feel free to ask a staff member to accompany you if you have any worries. It is standard practice to escort any guest after dark.
