Lemala Kuria Hills Lodge
Unwinding in the accommodations at Kuria Hills was a standout moment of my recent journey to Tanzania. This camp offers an exceptional experience, combining luxury with outstanding value, making it one of the top choices in Tanzania.
SUMMARY:
Lemala Kuria Hills Lodge is an exceptional property featuring private pools as a standard amenity, and the level of hospitality is on par with the safari experience itself.
Located close to the Mara River, which marks the boundary between the Serengeti and Kenya’s Maasai Mara, this lodge offers an excellent opportunity to observe the wildebeest migration from July to October. It is an ideal choice for those seeking a more comfortable experience, steering clear of the adventurous ambiance of tented mobile camps.
The lodge is managed and run by Lemala Authentic Camps and Lodges. This company provides top-quality lodging options across the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Conservation area. Your stay includes full-board arrangements, featuring all meals, a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, game drives, the Lemala Cubs programme, Wi-Fi access, and laundry service.
Kindly be informed that this lodge will not be open during the months of April and May.
ENTRY & POSITION:
The lodge can be reached with a 45-minute road transfer from Kogatende Airstrip. Located in a secluded area of the North Serengeti’s Wogakuria Hills, this setting features striking rocky kopjes and impressive boulders. The renowned River Mara is only a short half-hour journey away!

The property features 15 suites, each located at different distances from the shared amenities. The suites are thoughtfully arranged with ample distance between them, linked to the main lodge by well-maintained pathways. This space is furnished with a table and chairs, a couple of sun loungers, and a delightful plunge pool for your relaxation. An outdoor shower is available as well.
The primary spaces at Lemala Kuria Hills Lodge are situated at the highest elevation of the property, offering stunning views across the plains! Three tents are set up: one serves as the lounge and bar, another is designated for the dining room, and the third accommodates Reception and the gift shop. The pathways are linked by elevated wooden walkways. In the lounge/bar tent, inviting chairs and sofas are arranged around coffee tables or beside warm fireplaces. Ceiling fans and stylish chandeliers grace the space above, while shelves display an array of books and games. The bar offers a welcoming atmosphere where you can connect with other travellers over a few drinks. The dining tent exudes elegance, with individual tables accompanied by upright chairs, and a cozy fireplace that adds to the welcoming atmosphere. Guests can enjoy delightful breakfasts, lunches, afternoon teas, and dinners in one of the lodge’s charming settings. There’s also the option to dine on the spacious deck next to the tents or in a more private spot. The gift shop offers a wonderful selection of unique items, and the spa, located a bit away from the main area, is ideal for those seeking some relaxation and indulgence! Additionally, you’ll find a swimming pool and a sundeck, perfect for unwinding between your various activities. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available across the entire property.
**Kindly note that we cannot accommodate families with young children under the age of 6 years due to safety concerns regarding the balconies, decks, and walkways.**
EXPERIENCES AT LEMALA KURIA HILLS LODGE:
Kuria Hills Lodge provides expertly guided game drives, seasonal walking safaris, and the Lemala Cubs programme for your enjoyment.
Enjoy expertly guided game drives, available in the early morning and extending into the late afternoon and evening.
Experience the Great Wildebeest Migration – Visiting between July and October offers a chance to witness the Great Migration, as this area is along the path traveled by vast herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelles in pursuit of sustenance. A significant feature during this time is witnessing the breathtaking crossings of the herds at the River Mara! Massive Nile crocodiles lie in wait within the turbulent waters, poised to snatch any unsuspecting herbivore in their powerful jaws.
Wildlife spotting – The breathtaking scenery of this region in the Serengeti boasts an incredible abundance of wildlife! Here, you can anticipate encountering four of the Big Five: lion, rhino, leopard, and elephant. Additionally, you may spot cheetah, spotted hyena, a variety of plains game, and an extensive array of bird species.
The lodge also provides the opportunity for walking safaris. These come with an extra fee and aren’t available in June, but if you can take a walk through the Serengeti, you’ll find it to be a rewarding experience – perfect for observing the diverse plant life, insects, and birds in the national park.
Activities for children – In the meantime, the Lemala Cubs programme provides a variety of engaging experiences for kids, such as tracking with guides, mastering the art of spear throwing with local Maasai, and enjoying captivating African fables around the campfire!
