This 5-day mixed primates safari takes you deep into the jungles of Kibale Forest National Park, the misty slopes of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, and the lush highlands of Volcanoes National Park, offering intimate encounters with chimpanzees, mountain gorillas, golden monkeys, and more. From the thrilling calls of chimpanzees to the silent gaze of a silverback gorilla, every moment in the wild is an unforgettable experience.
You will depart Kigali today and go to Volcanoes national park in northern Rwanda. Should this be of interest to you, you will tour morning Kigali City, visiting the Kigali Genocide memorial, Kandt Museum, and the craft market. Otherwise, depending on arrival time, you will be transported straight to Volcanoes national park.
Driving time is two hours and thirty minutes. Or helicopter (Augusta) – 35 minutes
L & D Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge / Virunga Lodge
Your driver guide will take you to the park’s briefing area after breakfast. The ranger guide assigned to your group will inform you about your time in the jungle looking for these golden monkeys.
Golden monkeys live in the Virunga areas of Uganda, Rwanda and DR Congo. They are quite active, usually seen foraging for food at the time of your visit suggesting you will accompany them as they eat. Occasionally they are spotted entering the nearby gardens for potatoes, but their all time delicacy is bamboo shoots.

After a leisurely morning, your naturalist guide will pick you up and accompany you to Uganda on the opposite side of the Virunga’s. You will spend the afternoon at your lodge unwinding with a book or sipping your favorite beverage overlooking the mountains or forest.
Four hours of driving; B, L & D; Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp/Bwindi Lodge/Clouds Mt Gorilla Lodge/Buhoma Lodge/Gorilla Heights
You will encounter the mountain gorillas in their habitat in Bwindi impenetrable national park or Mgahinga gorilla national park today. Your driving guide will take you to the briefing location where you will be assigned a gorilla group to hike. You should be quite fit to appreciate this experience as the walk can run from one hour to many hours depending on where they nested the previous night. Once you find them, you have one hour with them before your voyage back begins.

Your flight will determine when you leave your resort in the morning for a brief city tour of Kigali before heading to the airport for your departure flight.
